2012 Republican National Convention Logo Unveiled

Monday, November 7, 2011

Committee on Arrangements takes important step toward building a successful and memorable convention

TAMPA, Fla. –The Committee on Arrangements (COA) for the 2012 Republican National Convention today unveiled the official convention logo on Phase One of its website. The emblem’s design pays tribute to the Tampa Bay area as host of the 2012 Republican National Convention and recognizes the nation by incorporating the flag.

“Today’s unveiling of the logo and first phase of our website are important milestones in our planning process,” said convention Chief Executive Officer William D. Harris. “The elephant—the proud and strong symbol of the Republican Party—with his trunk pointed toward 2012 reflects the spirit, unity and strength of our Party as we plan a successful 2012 Republican National Convention that enables us to march toward victory next November.”

The logo, which can be viewed at the newly launched www.GOPConvention2012.com, was designed by Marcia Brown of M/Brown Creative from Alexandria, Virginia, following a competitive solicitation for logo design. Brown is a Republican campaign veteran with stints at the Republican National Committee, McCain-Palin 2008, and work with the last seven Republican National Conventions.

“The 2012 Republican National Convention logo will be printed, embroidered and emblazoned on shirts, hats and all sorts of souvenirs,” said convention Chairman Alec Poitevint. “The logo will also be displayed prominently throughout the St. Pete Times Forum and alongside our Party’s nominee, the next President of the United States.”

“The waves beneath Tampa Bay represent our beautiful host city’s location on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico,” said Poitevint. “The three stars in the flag symbolize equality, justice and opportunity—core principles of our country’s Constitution and the founding tenets of the Republican Party.”
